Site Superintendent (High Rise Construction)

The Site Superintendent is responsible for supervising and coordinating all field operations required to construct the project which includes all on-site construction activities, ensuring that project plans and schedule are followed and the project is executed safely, effectively and within budget.
What you'll be responsible for day to day:
Coordinate all site activities in order to meet schedule in accordance with Drawings, Specifications and Trade Contracts;
Ensure project materials and workmanship meet project quality standards and design requirements;
Assist with obtaining necessary information for engineers, designers, inspectors, etc. as required;
Engage Project Manager and senior management of potential problems, work interferences or schedule difficulties while assisting in resolving such conflicts or issues;
Establishing and conducting of site Contractor meetings;
Attending Consultant meetings and liaise with all Consultants as required;
Engage Consultants to remedy site conditions and co-ordination problems;
Schedule and conduct site reviews as required by the Building Department, Project Consultants, 3rd party testing Consultants and other authorities having jurisdiction;
Development and monitoring of an RFI Log and the review and processing of any related Site Instructions as needed;
Provides weekly updates and meetings on project status to all staff;
Work with contracting companies in order to get supplies, equipment and additional labour to meet construction schedule;
Ensures all reports, records, timesheets and relevant documentation are submitted on time;
Orders construction material from suppliers as required;
Reviews and revises architectural changes and customer extras on drawings and plans;
Works with and manages the MasterCare expectations throughout the project;
Maintain project daily job diary.
Must have current knowledge of Ontario Occupational Health & Safety regulations and legislations;
Create site specific plans and procedures (as required) and ensure the implementation of Minto’s Safety Program to create a safe work environment throughout the jobsite;
Inspects the work site continuously to ensure all Minto staff and trades partners abide by Ministry of Ontario Labour regulations and Minto’s Health & Safety Policies;
Attends all worker trade and joint health and safety committee meetings;
Record, enforce and update the Minto database daily on disciplinary action as required
Continuously pursues cost effective alternatives to improve financial performance in all areas;
General review and monitoring of monthly project budget reports (prepared by other);
Monthly review and approval of trade partner invoices for payment.
Management and Leadership
Supervise, train and provide direction to all Assistant Superintendents, Site Coordinators, Site Administrators, Students and staff assigned to project as required;
Builds, manages, and maintains a high performance team through effective, coaching, and development;
Sets high standards, establishes accountabilities and measures performance consistent with Minto’s Values;
Other duties within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job, as requested by management.
What you'll bring:
Must be able to read and thoroughly understand Architectural, Structural, Shoring, Electrical and Mechanical drawings, Interior Design and Landscape Drawings;
Must be able to review and understand all reports and documents including Soils Investigation, Site Services, and Shoring, Structural, Architectural, M & E, Interior Design and Landscape drawings;
Assist with site review and development of staging plan as it pertains to utilities, access, public protection, material deliveries, concrete staging, hoist and crane location, site offices and other related requirements.
Education: A High School Diploma is required. Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Architectural Science or Engineering and/or apprenticeship in related trades is preferred.
Experience: Minimum five to seven (5-7) years of construction supervision experience required
