Working within the underground mine department as an Operations Coordinator, this role will be responsible for coordinating and ensuring the 24 hour plan is being executed by the contractors within Underground Mine Operations, coordinating between various UG mine contractors, providing direction to the UG Operations Supervisors, and validating operational results.
Reporting through to the Mining Manager, the successful operationally focused candidate will be an integral part of ensuring efficient contractor management during a $100 million capital infrastructure program which includes a portal development, vent raises, ore passes, conveyor installations, diamond drilling and new fixed plant projects.
Run the Contractor Mine Operations Centre for the underground mine and oversee the execution of the shift plan as it applies to Capital Projects.
Support mine supervisors building daily line-up to support Capital Projects and Mining Plan.
Coordinate decision making and prioritize daily mining tasks for the ug crew supervisors and workforce to ensure the weekly plan is delivered and priorities are met.
Exercise decisive authority over course of action and coordinate the new tasks when the plan cannot be followed.
Ensure the progress of assigned tasks are updated in the Mine Planning system and coordinate between various contractor and U/G departments.
Review the variance to assigned tasks and ensure the plan is correctly prioritized for the next shift, ie, continually adjust course so the 13 week mine plan and 7 +21 Day Plan produced by technical services can be met.
Assist operators in classifying delays and downtime in the DTAC tablet application.
Create and promote a safe working environment underground by capturing and communicating relevant information about the work areas.
Direct the efforts to locate and communicate with all personnel in the ug mine during an emergency.
Utilize other mine systems (de-watering, ventilation, asset tracking) to support daily operations.
Coach supervisors and personnel in the use of company supplied tablet and the Apps within the DTAC system.
Train underground contractor supervisors to run the Mine Operations Center.
At least 8 years of experience working in the mining industry. Underground experience required
Mine planning, mine engineering technologist, geologist or technical training/skills in a related field is beneficial, but not required.
Underground supervisory experience.
Ability to work in an ug mine required.
Lateral and Vertical Development experience preferred
Aptitude for planning and prioritization.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to provide training and coaching to individuals.
Self-directed with the ability to work well within a team.

The Hemlo property consists of Williams Operating Corporation, an underground and open pit mine, located approximately 350 kilometers east of Thunder Bay, Ontario.
