Title: Plumbing Apprentice
Accountability: Red-Seal Plumber
Primary Duty: To learn the plumbing trade by assisting a Red-Seal plumber.
Reporting to a Red-Seal plumber, the apprentice plumber will carry out the tasks related to the plumbing trade consistent with their apprenticeship year level. Additionally, they will attend trade school and complete learning assessment outcomes for a plumbing apprentice.
Specifically, the apprentice plumber will…
Carry out construction, assembly, alteration or renovation of plumbing installations, possibly for single and multi-storey domestic, commercial and industrial environments
Carry out construction, maintenance and repair to existing plumbing for gas appliances, water reticulation, sewage systems, drainage systems and roofing systems – digging drains, installing pipes, erecting sub-floor plumbing structures; wall and roof cladding and all plumbing hardware and fittings, appliance and assemblies
Use hand tools
Use power tools
Operate workshop equipment
Handle and store plumbing supplies and materials
Follow appropriate safety practices to access plumbing installations and when using ladders, other access ways, handrails, barriers, trench supports, scaffolding and mechanical lifts (if trained/licensed)
Follow established policies and procedures
Read and interpret various types of construction/installation diagrams
Follow written and verbal instructions in the workplace and trade school environments
Communicate and interact with others in an appropriate fashion in the workplace and trade school environments
Perform other duties as required
Education and Experience
Experience in the construction industry would be considered an asset
PMP employees work a standard 40-hour work week, but hours of work may vary based on business requirements from time to time.
