Our Home Care team strives to provide client & family-centered care to our clients in their homes in community/lodge/supportive living settings. We value client and family involvement in care planning and decision-making. Our Case Managers provide care planning, oversight and some care to our clients in community/lodge/supportive living settings. The Case Managers also direct the services delivered by our Health Care Aides (HCAs) and LPNs who provide care to our clients who live in community & lodge settings. Our HCAs provide authorized services, which can include but not limited to personal care & medication assistance to our clients. All Home Care staff is required to have a vehicle, with business insurance, for work purposes because our staff travels throughout the greater Grande Prairie area to provide service. This position currently is at Pioneer Lodge (subject to change). Home Care Health Care Aides provide service in lodges in Grande Prairie & Clairmont and clients homes, throughout our region. If you enjoy working autonomously within a supportive team, this job may be for you. You must be a certified Health Care Aide. You must have a reliable vehicle with business insurance and comfortable to drive in any weather/road conditions. Experience with seniors’ health is an asset. Candidate must be/be willing to register with the Alberta Health Care Aide directory. Remote Retention Allowance In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.
As a Health Care Aide (HCA) - Nursing Attendant, you are responsible for providing personal assistance, supporting activities of daily living and providing comfort and support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short-term assistance or ongoing support. You will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers spanning the continuum of care in home, community or health care facilities. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

- As a condition of employment at AHS, you must be enrolled in the Government of Alberta-Health Care Aide Directory and provide evidence of your enrollment at time of hire and annually thereafter. For more information on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory, please visit: www.albertahcadirectory.com. - In addition, you must meet one of the following Alberta Health Services (AHS) Health Care Aide (HCA) competency requirement and provide evidence at time of hire: a) Certified - certified as a Health Care Aide through a Government of Alberta licensed post-secondary institution using the Provincial Health Care Aide Curriculum; or b) Substantially Equivalent - an educational background deemed equivalent as compared to the approved Provincial Health Care Aide Curriculum; or c) Deemed Competent - assessed as competent by an Alberta regulated nurse, using the Provincial Competency Assessment Profile Tool.
Current CPR, reliable vehicle for work purposes and acceptable drivers abstract. Experience dealing with all entire age spectrum including seniors.
