Under the direction of a Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse, you will collaborate with your team to ensure resident care is delivered in a way that acknowledges resident choice, dignity, privacy, independence, spirituality and individuality inclusive of a home-like environment. You will provide quality service according to the care plan and the GSS Standards of Care including participating in the development and updating of care guides/plans. You will assist residents with personal care, activities of daily living, meal service, portering, recreational activities and leisure activities where applicable. You will advocate for residents by reporting any changes in resident condition as well as any resident needs or concerns to the RN/LPN in a timely manner.
You have a recognized Health Care Aide certificate (or equivalent) Experience working with the elderly and disabled preferred. Palliative Care experience an asset. You have strong interpersonal skills and are able to communicate effectively in both written and verbal English. GED or grade 10 English equivalency. Food safe level 1 is required (post July 29, 2013) or equivalent for BC employees and Food Safety Certificate or equivalent for Alberta employees. You have excellent customer service skills. Computer skills required.
You must be registered with the Alberta Health Care Aide Registry in order to work as a Health Care Aide in Alberta.
You must be registered with the British Columbia Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry in order to work as a Health Care Aide in British Columbia.

- a current and clear Criminal Record Check Form and Clearance Letter prior to the hire date;
- a tuberculosis screening that has been completed no more than 12 months prior to the hire date.
