In this role you will be a valued member of Dawson Civil, working on contract as a Project Engineer on a two-year project, reporting to the Project Manager. As the Project Engineer you will be responsible for all engineering and technical disciplines that the project involves. You will schedule, plan, forecast, resource and manage all the technical activities aiming at assuring project accuracy and quality from conception to completion. Your base location will be Salmon Arm, BC.


  • Develop project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans and conferring with management
  • Determine project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements, assigning personnel to phases and elements, and reviewing bids from contractors
  • Determine project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards
  • Complete technical studies and prepares cost estimates.
  • Determine project schedule by studying project plan and specifications, calculating time requirements, and sequencing project elements
  • Maintain project schedule by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities, and resolving problems
  • Control project plan by reviewing design, specifications, and plan, scheduling changes, and recommending actions
  • Control project costs by approving expenditures and administering contractor contracts
  • Prepare project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends; recommending actions.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations.


  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in civil construction projects required
  • Minimum of five (5) years of construction project management
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s license required
  • Demonstrated ability to work both as part of a team and independently.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Project and other project management tools.
  • Proficiency with Heavy Bid and Heavy Job considered as asset
