The Health Care Aide (HCA) provides basic nursing care to patients/residents as directed, assists with activities of daily living, and performs other activities necessary to meet the personal needs of patients/residents. The HCA maintains and promotes patient/resident safety, comfort, privacy, dignity and independence, and performs duties to maintain an aesthetic environment. The HCA is responsible for the provision of care in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be credentialed as either: Certified, Substantially Equivalent, or Deemed Competent, as per Alberta Health's hiring standards for HCAs. Physically able to assist with all aspects of patient/resident care and transport, e.g. walking, standing, bending and lifting. Additional Required Qualifications:
Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required. Ability to work independently and function as a team member. Ability to be self-directed, have good organizational and time management skills. Must be able to work in a fast-paced and, at times, highly stressful environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
Recent patient care experience in a Geriatric Psychiatry or mental health setting preferred. Successful completion of a recognized mental health certificate program, or have successfully completed one full time year (2022.75 hours) of working with psychiatry or dementia patients/residents within an acute care or continuing care setting. Ability to maintain own educational requirements with the assistance of the education department and manager.
