Senior Legal Counsel, Editorial

We are looking for a highly engaged and passionate lawyer with experience in media law and litigation to join our legal department in Toronto as Senior Legal Counsel, Editorial.
As A Member Of Our HIGH PERFORMANCE Team You Will:
Have primary responsibility for providing legal advice and training to our editorial departments on issues relating to defamation, copyright, publication bans, sealing orders, privacy and freedom of expression.
Provide pre and post-publication advice.
Attend in court as needed and work with external counsel to manage litigation.
Foster strong collaborative relationships with our editorial and management teams.
What You Need To Be Successful:
5+ years of post-call experience in media law and litigation
Good standing as a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada
Strong communication and drafting skills that enable you to communicate key information directly and effectively, in a manner that is appropriately tailored for the audience and instills a sense confidence - Trusted Advisor
Highly developed advocacy and negotiation skills, and the ability to quickly get to the key issues and present persuasive legal positions
Sound business judgement
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a broad range of stakeholders
