Reporting to the Parks Foreman and working under the direction of the Parks and Arena Operators, the Arena Attendant performs maintenance and public relations duties within all outdoor and snow bank rinks to ensure that the facilities are readily available in an attractive, clean, safe, and presentable condition for public use. The incumbent provides direct customer services to user groups and the public. The Arena Attendant promotes the City’s commitment to diversity, inclusions and Truth and Reconciliation within the department, organization and community.
Include, but are not limited to:
- Perform janitorial and preventative maintenance.
- Snow removal as required using hand and/or light powered operating equipment.
- Moving nets and performing snow removal as required.
- Open, monitor and close outdoor rinks.
- Ensure all rules and regulations pertaining to the facilities are adhered to.
- Maintain positive public relations and provide assistance and information services to user groups and the public.
- Assisting Parks and/or other Public Works Operators as required.
Candidates must have good organization, customer service and communication skills. A willingness and ability to learn new skills in the Arena Operations and Parks area is required. This is a physically demanding position; incumbents will be required to work indoors and outdoors in a variety of adverse weather conditions. The number of hours of work per week may vary based on operational needs.
This position is within the scope of C.U.P.E. Local 30, and as such, you will be required to adhere to the articles contained within the Collective Agreement.
Hours of Work: Varying shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays
This is a temporary position with a tentative end date of March 13, 2023.
