The Role: VP Category Management
Reporting to the SVP and Chief Merchant. Responsible for establishing strategies based upon Business Unit and Corporate directions. Work with the Merchandising and Store Operations teams to enhance the consumer experience, Rexall’s brand impact and market share. Establish product, service and promotional initiatives to increase sales and enhance banner profitability.
Provide overall strategic merchandising direction to our retail stores, including visual presentation, product merchandising, seasonal and brand initiatives, private label placement.
Develop the Category Management team skills and efficiencies. Support the team to ensure key business objectives are met. Provide leadership and oversee the Category Managers’ and Category teams’ day to day activities. Create an environment and passion for exceeding expectations and timelines.
Develop strategies to drive sales, margin, supplier revenue via programs, inventory management and proper product assortment.
Ensure product availability and deliver at retail to enhance the consumer experience, brand impact and market share increase.
Build relationships with internal and external customers in order to better align strategic objectives and consumer’s needs.
Identify corporate brand opportunities and drive Rexall corporate brand sales, with a goal of private brand sales exceeding that of the total category.
University degree in a relevant discipline.
10 years of professional retail management in a multi-store environment, preferably Drug Store product classification. Beauty experience preferred.
Formidable leader and strong team management skill set.
Solid business acumen and effective negotiator.
Communicate and present effectively to internal and external stakeholders.
Sound knowledge of the retail industry and best practices.
Strong strategic, negotiating and critical thinking skills.
