You are a senior leader, brand ambassador, and role model. The VP Development role is responsible for all on-site features and uptime, user experience, and load speeds, as well as the backend systems the business relies on. You own the quality of our code and are responsible for ‘bar raising’ with every hire. You will be heavily involved in both the worlds of development and operations, and oversee DevOps, Database Administration, Web Application Development, Live Website Monitoring, A/B Testing, and our software development process. You advise leadership on all technical matters and tradeoffs.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

Own the entire in-house eCommerce conversion rate optimization (CRO) program, including A/B testing and personalization, and manage project roadmaps to identify, prioritize, test, and implement creative solutions that improve usability, accessibility, and the overall shopping experience on our site.
Develop a reliable process for deploying changes to our eCommerce sites theme. Ensure test coverage across frontend and backend software/websites is appropriate to reduce business risk and to enable rapid iteration (A/B tests etc.)
Recruit, manage, mentor, motivate and lead an enthusiastic, productive software development team
Research, recommend, and ensure the implementation of best-practice software development processes, including source control and agile development (scrum)
Oversee and continuously refine deployment processes (CI/CD) to maximize our ability to iterate quickly on our e-commerce strategies while minimizing risk
Research, recommend and implement strategic infrastructure and platform choices, leveraging state of the art web technologies to optimize the profitability of our e-commerce strategies
Work with leaders across the organization to analyze business requirements and identify and prioritize new projects to expand our e-commerce capabilities & IP or to make existing strategies more efficient
Act as lead developer as necessary on high profile / high risk projects
Ensure compliance with regulations and security practices affecting our platforms
Ensure all aspects of user experience, from load times to mobile layouts, are continually improved and meet or surpass customer expectations.
Requirements

10+ years experience in a similar role, especially eCommerce overseeing long term in-house CRO and site usability improvement
Strong understanding of conversion funnel and rate
Advanced skills in Google Analytics, testing tools and front-end integrations
Deep knowledge of web browsers, consumer web apps, and eCommerce technology, especially as pertains to site speed and usability
Broad and extensive knowledge of the software development process and its technologies
Knowledge of architectural styles, design patterns and familiarity with UX design
Enterprise Application design & modelling
Experiencing leading and managing multiple teams/projects
Ruby on Rails, SQL, HTML/CSS, Javascript (ES6), Linux/unix shell usage & scripting
Experience Chef/Ansible/Shippable or other devops technologies
Experience with Shopify preferred
Bachelor’s degree required
You’re familiar with Scrum methodology
Experience with React.JS, Redux, Node.JS a plus
A public GitHub presence and portfolio samples will go a long way
