As the Community and Events Facilitator, you support the promise of work, learn, grow for our customers and community by being a key player in the success of our Spotlight/Sous le projecteur/Events Space – our interactive community event and learning space that brings inspirational speakers, educational workshops, motivational content, and interactive events to our customers. You bring expert knowledge of what’s happening in the world of working and learning and you look for speakers and opportunities to inspire and ignite our customers, helping them to be successful in achieving their working and learning goals. You connect with customers to share upcoming events and encourage registrations. You share and partner with store associates, both in your location and surrounding markets; liaising with and involving them in events and community partnerships and coaching them on how to communicate key messages to their customers and ensuring they know when and how to partner customers to you. With a large scope of impact and partnerships with a variety of stakeholders, each day will be fast-paced, challenging, rewarding and meaningful.
Specifically, you will:
Consult with customers as potential presenters/hosts of events; how to participate, how to become a presenter, how to be informed of upcoming events, etc. Act as the liaison between the store/customer and Home Office. Consult with customers regarding the Spotlight/Sous les projecteurs/Events space for public events or rental for a private booking.
Actively recruit potential presenters/hosts from within the store and the community; speak with customers who are interested in hosting an event, walk customers through the space, answer questions, and determine pre-approval.
Actively build and connect to networks through social media channels Be a brand ambassador for the working and learning company, both in store and within the community.
Partner with the Program Manager, Store Events to ensure facilitators and content are aligned with the National strategy for Spotlight/Sous les projecteurs/Events space.
Inform customers and associates of upcoming events/event calendar and the registration process utilising all communication methods including email. Provide opportunities for and assist with on-the-spot registrations. Be responsible for informing customers and associates of upcoming events and the registration process. Review upcoming events and monitor event registration closely; promote events with low registration to increase participation. Report registration performance to facilitators weekly, encouraging self promotion. Report number of attendees and provide a post-event report to Home Office.
Support all events including store announcements, set up and take-down, technology needs, refreshment and catering, presenter introductions, moderating, registrant check-in, and any other requirement to ensure the event runs smoothly; complete the Spotlight/Sous les projecteurs/Event Space Checklist prior to an event and ensure all needs of the event presenter/host are taken care of.
Be comfortable with the technology used in the Spotlight/Sous les projecteurs/Event space to ensure smooth presentations every time.
Be responsible for the training and coaching of associates in promoting the Spotlight/Sous les projecteurs/Event Space program. Ensure all associates are aware of and can promote Spotlight/Sous les projecteurs to the customer, and that all associates are able to assist with registrations.
Connect, Share, Partner with customers by greeting them, building relationships, demonstrating curiosity, sharing new trends, products and services and offering solutions, selling and identifying referral opportunities and actively looking to stay connected to them and identify relevant referral opportunities in the future.
Be responsible for connecting with customers to discover their interests and to match and promote Spotlight/Sous les projecteurs events to the customer’s interests.
Some of what you need
1 year of previously related experience is preferred.
Working toward or successful completion of high school is preferred.
Comfort with technology.
Strong networking, communication, collaboration & influencing skills to work with a variety of partners.
Demonstrated bias for action, attention to detail, effective prioritization and flawless execution.

A moderate amount of physical effort and operation of equipment / machinery is required to execute our merchandising standards and to maximize our customer experience.
Required to work a varying schedule in order to meet the needs of the business. This includes working evenings and weekends.
