OVERVIEW

HARRIS is hiring! We are looking for an experience IT Infrastructure Specialist who is capable of managing their days without being micromanaged, work with a team and independently, as well as being comfortable wearing multiple hats in order to support approximately 300 virtual servers, enterprise grade infrastructure solutions, and share the responsibility of managing helpdesk support on a monthly rotation among the infrastructure team.

As the Infrastructure Specialist, you will report to the Infrastructure Manager, however in this senior role, you will have the autonomy to manage your own day with minimal direction or day-to-day support. This position has the potential to include some after hours and weekend support when necessary as well as being part of a 24/7 on call rotation for after hour outages and updates.

This position has access to sensitive data; therefore the successful candidate must have a high level of accountability and adhere to Corporate Compliance and Security. The position will be closely monitored in the first three months of employment to ensure the candidate is capable or performing a wide range of responsibilities. This role is based out of our beautiful Calgary office, however remote work from home options are available.

WHAT WILL YOUR NEW ROLE BE

Support and monitor Cognera’s, network, servers, data communications, SAN storage, public and private cloud, telecommunications, backups, Disaster recovery, system and communication security, internal applications, and other related services.
Cross functional support for DBAs, Developers, Release Managers, DevOps, Client Support Teams, and the infrastructure team.
Support Cognera’s Energy Application Suite of software on Citrix Presentation Farm, desktops and next generation web platforms through management of underlying security and infrastructure components.
Troubleshooting infrastructure issues including opening tickets with vendors.
Prepare written policies, procedures, and technical documents.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

3+ years of supporting the IT infrastructure technologies such as Linux, VMware vCenter, vSphere replication, and public cloud infrastructure.
2+ years of experience driving technical issues to resolution.
Experience with Linux and Microsoft Server Management.
Experience with Layer 3 networking.
Ability to lift computer boxes and equipment (up to 50 pounds)

WHAT WILL MAKE YOU STAND OUT

Knowledge of the Microsoft Active Directory, Firewall, and network security appliance administration.
Experience with the following hardware; Blade Systems, Storage Systems.
College, University degree, or equivalent with major course work in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Engineering, or a closely related field
