The impact you’ll make
Our Senior Manager, Technical Project Management position is a people-leader role that influences how we operate at Loblaw Digital; responsible for not only ensuring that eCommerce Technology portfolios are delivered on-time, on-budget, and on-plan, but also ensuring collaboration and enablement amongst our cross-functional teams. You will manage a technical eCommerce portfolio of initiatives/projects that span across multi-disciplinary teams (both internal at Loblaw Digital and externally with the broader enterprise). You will create and track detailed project plans, manage and resolve issues and risks, manage teams directly and indirectly, and communicate status and priorities through succinct updates. Candidates should have extensive experience managing and launching large-scale technology projects and be comfortable with business case analysis, business process documentation, requirements gathering, and project management. The intent of this role is to bring further structure and efficiency to the function, as well as support the broader business portfolios with a focus on ensuring consistency in delivery excellence across business and technical initiatives. This role will be a mix of both tactical and strategic technical project management, as well as people management, stakeholder management, communication, and collaboration.
What you’ll do
In partnership with product and technology, support planning against annual roadmaps, and end-to-end delivery plans
Lead a portfolio of technical projects with support of a team; ensuring delivery on plan, on budget
Partner with business lead to drive business objectives through budget and plan accountability
Define strategic processes and planning for initiatives by summarizing, communicating, and aligning on inputs from eCommerce business areas and other internal partners as required
Leads and foster relationship management, stakeholder communication, and management of cross team dependencies
Identifies portfolio dependencies; work with all business and technology partners to identify dependencies and communicate the impacts if delivery dates are trending risk, or off plan
Serve as a trusted liaison for the business and proactively clarify and prioritize business ideas, needs, and problems that require technology enablement
Identify scope changes and manage change request processes for approval
Conduct weekly meetings with internal and external project teams
You will lead and support a group of empowered technical project managers and/or scrum masters; helping to create efficiencies, ensure strategic alignment, and enablement
Does this sound like you?
8+ years of experience managing high-volume, complex, consumer facing eCommerce projects
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Computer Science required, advanced degree strongly preferred
Experience leading a team, and fostering collaboration with team-driven mentality
Experience managing projects requiring data engineering work, building data pipelines, and automating processes is strongly preferred
Superior inter-personal skills including ability to drive and lead cross-functional environments and communicate with both peers and senior stakeholders
Excellent understanding of web and mobile technologies especially as it relates to eCommerce
Experience communicating technical constructs and concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Comfortable making trade-offs to balance business v. technology needs
Excellent understanding of the Agile and Scrum methodologies
Excellent vendor management skills
Forward, proactive, and strategic thinker with the ability to think outside of the box
Demonstrated ability to drive to clear action and ownership
Exceptional project and time management skills
Collaborative partner and strong problem-solving skills
Excellent understanding of the retail industry as it relates to eCommerce
