The Faculty of Social Work invites applications for a Project Coordinator. This Fixed Term Recurring Part-time position is for approximately 12 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.
This position reports to the Principal Investigator, and will manage, coordinate, communicate, and collaborate on training, mentoring and research activities within the partnership grant research project. The team consists of approximately 30 research assistants, one knowledge mobilization coordinator and large component of collaborators and co-investigators. The Project Coordinator will be responsible for the overall coordination of the partnership by coordinating multiple training, mentoring and research activities within three streams of the project.
The goal of this talent Project is to integrate research and practice in the preparation of the next generation of social workers by developing partnered research training initiatives, both within academia and across the public and not-for-profit sectors that enhance student research. The project has three streams including digital storytelling, developing sustainable field education model for social work education, and applied research into practice.
This position is located in EDMONTON and will work 20 hours per week.
Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):
Assist/Coordinate in research related activities including selection of research sites
Plan, organize, and coordinate field research summit under the directions of principal investigator and co-investigators and with other project team members including RAs
Assist in the preparation, coordination and submission of research ethics applications to the ethic boards
Assist in developing training modules, participatory research modules, presentations and publications
Assist in identifying promising and innovative practices in social work field education with the research team
Develop and maintain data repository of promising practices, modules, and other research related materials
Assist/Coordinate in planning and organizing interviews and focus group discussions
Coordinating role with field instructors, students and faculty within the project
Supervise RAs and Post-doctoral fellows in project related activities such as recruitment, data collection, analysis and writing for reports and publications
Handle copyright issues of various research deliverables
Provide support in coordination, planning, logistics and promotion of additional project related initiatives as needed on an ongoing basis
Manage project scope, timeline, and budget to ensure compliance with funding regulations and project deliverables such as developing training modules, digital story telling initiatives, sustainable social work field education models
Provide promotional information about project activities (e.g., publications, presentations, incentives, awards, etc.) to appropriate team members for recognition on social media, newsletter, and/or website
Promote and market project activities and programs through relevant avenues, including drafting of web content, email announcements, posters, and other mediums as requested
Manage in-person events, including site bookings, AV, catering, guest rooms, and other logistics associated with project related activities and programs
Coordinate and manage logistics for the Training Program, including speakers, room bookings, webinar technologies, learner support, evaluations, and reporting
Collaborate with stakeholders including universities, and other partnering agencies involved in the project
Manage and track record of finance (including sub-grant transfers and student stipends)
Tracks the expenses for the overall projects related to the role as well as individual events
Qualifications / Requirements:
Undergraduate/Graduate degree in social sciences or any health-related discipline
1-2 years of previously related experience in research project management
Certifications in Project Management is a strong asset
Knowledge of budget and financial expense management
Knowledge of University policies including submission of projects to ethics boards is a strong asset
Ability to work simultaneously on multiple training, mentoring and research activities
Fluent in English (required) and excellent written and verbal communication in French is a strong asset
Must be able to work independently and in a team environment
Strong organizational skills and detail oriented
Effective communication, budgeting, & team management skills
Excellent writing and presentation skills
Strong interpersonal skills
Computer skills including Microsoft Office, Nvivo, SPSS
Experience using digital storytelling, infographics, and other related social media apps is a strong asset
Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license
