Position Overview:
You will be the CFO’s right hand in leading and managing the implementation and execution of Segra accounting policies and procedures, assist in developing and maintaining Segra’s internal controls, delivering timely and transparent operational and financial reporting, and providing analytics, advice and recommendations to help leadership make informed decisions to reduce costs, enhance controls and achieve goals and plans. You will help develop a finance team to become a high-performance team and drive change management initiatives to continually improve the process.

This is a versatile and challenging position that combines the elements of external financial reporting, analysis, accounting policies and special projects.

This role will be based in Langley, BC where Segra's new corporate office will be.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

Assist CFO with special projects, including but not limited to, system enhancements, software implementation, automation, and upgrades
Partner with finance, corporate groups, and business operations to ensure accuracy of results and compliance with controls
Analysis and presentation of meaningful financial information to the key management, as required, with a focus on enhancing the presentation of current financial information.
Manage and review all work completed by the company’s bookkeepers to ensure that the companies’ accounting systems are conducted according to accounting and financial management principles and practices
Research and draft technical accounting memo with accurate accounting guidance, using professional judgment and support on complex issues and transactions, in compliance with IFRS
Prepare annual (quarterly) external financial statements (information) and MD&A
Prepare required tax, legal and regulatory financial statements and other information
Support external audit requirements
Develop and deploy standardized processes (systems, internal controls, reporting) to accelerate the company’s financial close and enhance the quality of financial information in accordance with regulatory requirements
Support in implementation of accounting changes and other process improvements
Review current processes and drive process redesign to enable more efficient financial reporting
Develop, oversee and monitor the design, implementation and operating effectiveness of Internal Controls Over Financial Reporting on an ongoing basis, including oversight and monitoring over the company’s internal controls
Assist in building out the team
What You’ll Bring

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline; MBA and/or CPA strongly preferred
Professional accounting designation (CA/CMA/CGA) with excellent knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP
Minimum 5 years of accounting, controls and audit experience preferably with a publicly traded company, global organization or public accounting firm
You adapt quickly and learn new tasks independently in an entrepreneurial environment
You have experience with and preference for a fast-growing, dynamic and rapidly changing environment (this industry is constantly evolving and things are always changing!)
You are naturally curious; if something seems off you want to roll up your sleeves and figure out what’s going on
High sense of initiative and self-starter; takes the initiative in getting things done for the company, even if the work is not within typical job responsibilities
