Job Description Summary
STEMCELL has made significant, multi-million dollar investments to support the growth of our global organization. The Change Manager (CM), reporting into the Project Management Office of the Corporate Affairs department at STEMCELL, will lead a diverse range of stakeholders in adjusting, adapting and sustaining strategic and operational changes that result from enterprise wide projects being managed by this office.
Working closely with project steering committees and senior leaders, the Change Manager will provide in-house subject matter expertise to the assigned change management initiatives and/or activities that may impact global facilities and infrastructure, people, programs, processes, systems, and technology, including mindset. You will develop, plan, implement, integrate and re-evaluate change management strategies and plans that minimize risks, maximize engagement and accelerate adoption. You will partner with Project Managers to develop integrated organizational change solutions during the project lifecycle. Not only are you a highly effective relationship builder with stakeholders, you also have well-developed skill sets in other areas such as organizational development and project management to achieve the desired outcomes on both the business side and people side of change. Duties & Responsibilities
Change Management Service Delivery
Work across multiple projects concurrently related to change management while maintaining high quality outputs.
Apply CM knowledge and expertise to prepare and deliver change management assessments and plans for multidisciplinary, cross functional projects.
Develop and maintain a clear understanding of STEMCELL’s strategic and operational priorities, including business culture, when developing the change strategy for related projects.
Develop an agile, future-forward CM Strategy for Corporate Affairs sponsored projects (planning horizon 1-3 years) that addresses business requirements while minimizing risks, maximizing engagement and accelerating adoption across globally diverse regions.
Define the organizational CM communication plan with a global lens and support the delivery of high level messaging to stakeholders and end user groups.
Continuously evaluate the CM strategy based on the nature, scope and size of the strategic and operational changes. Recommend and implement tactics that accelerate change adoption.
Serve as a change management lead for Corporate Affairs sponsored projects.
Act as an advocate and dedicated resource to implement and execute the CM service delivery model for the assigned projects and initiatives as required; promote the benefits and value of change practice to employees at all levels.
Create and manage metrics to track change adoption of corporate projects / initiatives; implement corrective actions. Provide executive summary reporting to senior stakeholders.
Collaborate with relevant stakeholders and internal business partners to cultivate change champions and to provide coaching on organizational change management including change resiliency within the organization.
Support existing CM practices by sharing and embedding best practice awareness in the demonstration and practice of change management and change leadership to help extend and foster CM capability throughout the organization.
Serve as an in-house coach and mentor to employees at all levels and those participating in the change.
Recommend learning / education opportunities and facilitate training workshops on how to lead and manage organizational change.
Advise, support and enable project and/or program sponsors to aid them in fulfilling their role in leading effective change.
Research emerging CM trends, tools, methods and best practices; adjust existing tools and processes to enhance operational effectiveness, efficiency and quality of change practice.
Minimum Master’s degree in Business Administration, Organizational Behavior and/or Organizational Development is preferred. Advanced level education an asset.
Professional designation or certification in change management (e.g. CCMP, CMC, ACMP, Prosci).
Minimum 10 years of practical change management project experience of varying scale and complexities, including developing, implementing and managing mid- to large-scale, cross-functional organizational change initiatives.
Solid understanding of organizational operational / business environment, dynamics, functions, systems and processes.
In-depth knowledge of organizational change management principles, methodologies and tools.
Demonstrated ability in assessing and documenting organizational change readiness.
Experience leading and executing change management strategy across mid- to large-scale organizations, along with the ability to overcome change inhibitors.
Advanced proficiency in maintaining long term, strategic and tactical view of change to identify risks and opportunities.
Ability to see the “whole picture” to balance the need to adopt change while maintaining key elements of "business as usual" for operational continuity.
Extensive knowledge and experience of project management principles, practices and methodologies. Knowledge of Agile principles an asset.
Demonstrated experience working with diverse stakeholders and project delivery teams.
Effective facilitation skills; ability to motivate and influence senior leaders.
Strong collaboration, partnership, influencing and leadership skills without exerting control or authority.
Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills to advise and consult with senior leaders and employees at all levels.
Advanced skills in critical thinking and complex problem solving.
Highly flexible, good tolerance for ambiguity and able to quickly adapt to changing priorities.
Confident and results-oriented with a proactive mindset.
