We are looking for an individual with an LPN background with strong administrative skills. This position will mainly support the physicians and clients regarding clinical results, clinical procedures and assisting physicians, as required. In addition, this role will provide support to the Medical Care Coordinators and reports directly to the Medical Operations Manager.

LPN Key Responsibilities

  • Complete Comprehensive Care Plans
  • Call Clients with Results as directed by physician
  • Assist in lab draws outside of scheduled lab time when needed
  • Conduct ECGs
  • Administer MoCA testing, BODPOD, Audio Visual and Spirometry tests
  • Vital signs - BP, Height, Weight
  • Vaccine administration
  • Autoclaving and sterilization skills: weekly and monthly cleaning (machine), cleaning instruments, autoclaving
  • Generate articles/health information for portal
  • Monitor vaccine fridge temperature
  • Follow up with patient vaccination history
  • Travex reports
  • Triage for MCCs

Administrative Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to all medical departments
  • Data Entry into EMR- Health History, medications, Immunization history and Intake forms
  • Maintain and stock exam Rooms
  • Link documents
  • Update pharmacy and specialist fax/phone numbers
  • Updating pharmacy listing in EMR, admin work for CCPs
  • Other administrative and clinical functions, as required

Lab (during vacation coverage)

  • Phlebotomy duties, as required
  • Lab supply order
  • Organize samples for send out daily
  • Trouble shoot any cancelled lab test summary reports from CLS
  • Monitor inventory, prepare PO’s and place orders for medical supplies
  • ECG result linking

Qualifications and Experience Needed

  • Registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA)
  • MOA Certification or minimum 3 years clinical experience in an office setting
  • Immunization certification and experience is a must
  • Phlebotomy certification and experience is an asset
  • Must have clinical experience in an outpatient family medicine clinic
  • Superior administration and clinical skills required with the ability to work within a collaborative team environment
  • Experience using MS office programs and EMR applications
  • Excellent with communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to remain calm in challenging situations or when last minute unexpected issues arise
