The Data, Insights & Analytics team at Loblaw is hiring a Data Science Analyst. Reporting to the Senior Data Scientist, Data, Insights & Analytics, the Data Science Analyst will use advanced techniques in obtaining and analyzing data to drive insights and develop analytic capabilities to support business objectives in a time-efficient manner. This role will have the opportunity to support various unique projects and enterprise-wide transformational analytical initiatives.

What You'll Do:
Be a Leader
Be end-to-end responsible for multiple Data Science projects. Deploy/Automate Predictive/Optimization models or workloads; be responsible for project pipelines/model documentation and maintenance
Responsible for the extraction and analysis of complex information from a variety of databases as well as gathering unstructured data through web-scraping and other sources.
Lead the business partners to make more self-sufficient decisions through automating workloads/models and providing consulting expertise.
Translating business requests and questions into an order of operations. Business requests can be strategic nature or tactical focus, including but not limited to loyalty initiatives, marketing campaigns, development and enhancements of recommendation engines, build customer attributes to better understand and predict customer behavior, etc.
Analyze data to help determine insights to solve business problems and/or identify new opportunities
Support the development and operations of data products working collaboratively with Product, Sales and Marketing and Operations groups, on cross functional outcomes
Actively identify and execute initiatives to improve process and data infrastructure
Act as gatekeeper with regards to security and confidentiality of data obtained through all sources. Strictly adhere to legal and compliance guidelines; regarding access and exposure to sensitive and confidential information
Design and build interactive and static data visualizations to provide insights and enable strategic business decisions
Build statistical, descriptive and predictive models to support experimentation that are easily understood and replicated
Conduct statistical analysis and hypothesis testing to improve forecasting, targeting and performance measurement

What You'll Bring:
BS/MS in Computer Science
2+ years of software engineering or analytics experience with focus on Algorithmic thinking/Code Deployment and Maintenance
Programming skills in Java or Python, PySpark, SQL. HTML a plus
Strong applied understanding of Machine learning and data mining . Knowledge of NLP and Recommendation Systems is an asset
Strong knowledge of deep learning (neural networks – CNN, RNN, GANN)
Knowledge of data management, practices and standards.
Understanding of GCP/Azure Data Engineering Stack, Big Data Tools and Technologies ( HDFS, HBase, Spark, Kafka)
In-depth knowledge of pattern recognition models such as Fourier transform, Wavelet transform, and change point analysis.
Understanding of Optimization Techniques
Strong oral and written communication skills;
