Job Profile:
CMHA York Region is growing, and with that comes the need for a strategic communications function, which seeks opportunities to build and enhance CMHA's already strong reputation. We are looking for a new and very important addition to this department: Communications Coordinator!

The Communications Coordinator is responsible for providing internal and external communication support to CMHA-YRSS, including social and digital media, media relations and internal communications. This position will be reporting to the Senior Director of Communications.

Responsibilities:
Drafting communications
Prepares organizational communications including news articles for the intranet and website, bi-weekly newsletter, email announcements, poster campaigns, brochures, press releases, etc.
Social and digital media management
Updates CMHA-YR social media channels in a timely and engaging manner, commenting on our key events, policy updates and mental health topics. Helps to establish a unique and appealing CMHA-YR voice on social media
Responds to requests to update CMHA-YR website, ensuring program information is up to date and accessible.
Drafts and uploads stories to staff intranet and social media channels
Proactively recommends social and digital media updates where appropriate.
Prepares monthly reports indicating social and digital media performance
Provides communication support for key initiatives and events
Under the guidance of the Senior Director, Communications, provides support for key organizational initiatives internally and externally
Works as a member of event planning teams to ensure smooth running of events and maximizing attendance
Coordinates monthly all-staff video conference

Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree in a communications discipline (PR, journalism, communication)
1 to 3 years in a similar role
Understanding of communications best practices and a demonstrated desire to further own knowledge and skills
Knowledge of digital communications tools
Outstanding written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
Strong social media management skills, including understanding of major platforms and measuring communications reach and impact
Basic design skills (e.g. InDesign, Adobe Creative Suits, Canva)
Ability to work independently
Proactively generating story ideas and suggesting improved approaches
Creative thinker

This position reports to Senior Director of Communications.

Working Conditions: Office work with some active work required during events
