WSP is currently seeking CAD Technician to join our Bridge Engineering department, located at our Oakville, ON office. This position will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects including multi-disciplinary design-build and alternative-delivery projects, which allows you to develop your experience on coordinating with project managers and design engineers.
Preparation of preliminary and detailed design drawings of a variety of new bridges, culverts and retaining walls, rehabilitation of existing structures and other transportation related structures.
Collaborate with Bridge Engineers in the development of Contract Drawings in AutoCAD or Microstation
Comply with WSP and Client Standards and Quality Systems and apply techniques and procedures used.
Maintain current in ongoing development in CAD
Other duties as assigned.
Diploma from a Technician or Technologist program in Structural, Civil or Transportation Engineering;
4+ years (Intermediate) of experience using AutoCAD, preferably in a consulting/design environment;
Experience with highway, rail and pedestrian bridges, retaining walls and other civil structures;
Working knowledge of Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, City of Toronto, and other local municipality bridge drafting standards is an asset
Proficient in the use of AutoCAD software
An interest in developing in 3D modelling and understanding how it applies to transport infrastructure
Knowledge or working experience in Microstation, Revit or other software such as Sketchup is considered an asset;
Ability to work on several projects at a time with multiple design teams;
Ability to work individually and as part of a team as an enthusiastic team player;
Excellent technical, interpersonal and teamwork skills; and strong oral and written communication abilities essential.
