The Community Loan Program Coordinator (CLP) is responsible for the day to day operations of the Community Loans Program. The CLP reports directly to the Director of Services.

Education and Experience

  • Post-secondary education in finance, economics, or project management
  • Minimum of 2 years experience working in a lending and/or financial services environment OR in social service environment
  • Experience working with and understanding issues facing low income people, especially surrounding housing stability and homelessness
  • Experience working with and understanding issues facing Indigenous, newcomer and refugee, LGBTQ2S and other marginalized population.
  • Bi or Multi-lingual skills are an asset
  • Basic knowledge of database management - Microsoft Access, and QuickBooks

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support Loan Administrator in candidate assessment, approvals and declines
  • Provide appropriate referrals to clients who are not accepted
  • Sign off on all form letters of acceptance and denials
  • Ensure appropriate communications occur between referral agency and CLP
  • Ensure all documents in the loan file are filed according to privacy procedures
  • Provide personal financial management counselling to clients (MMT training provided)
  • Monitor the progress of loan repayment and initiate corrective action where necessary
  • If language is a barrier, resource community support for communication and translation services
  • Pre-approve loans for final Director of Services approval
