We are looking for a motivated, compassionate, confident person to join our team as a veterinary assistant/receptionist. Our clinic is able to support a full-time or part-time employee.

Willowbrook Animal Hospital is a full-service hospital for cats and dogs. This is an excellent opportunity to work closely with animals and our trained staff of veterinarians and veterinary technicians. Our clinic is certified by American Animal Hospital Association. We offer care for preventative care, surgical care, emergencies, dentistry, radiology, and have an in-house laboratory. Our practice is small in size and staff, so the ability to work cooperatively is essential. With our plans to expand our hospital into a new space, we’re looking for an employee who is able to take on this challenge with us.

Receptionists are the customer-relations experts in a veterinary practice. They are the clients’ first impression of the practice, on the phone or in person. Receptionists must possess strong organizational skills, excellent telephone and in-person communication skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure. Receptionists must have compassion for animals and their owners and understand the stress that patients and clients endure.

The responsibilities of veterinary assistants vary considerably from one practice to another. They will divide their time between assisting the receptionists, helping doctors with physical examinations, dispensing medications, and helping veterinary technicians handle patients, prepare patients for surgery, provide nursing and comfort care, and perform treatments or basic laboratory diagnostic tests.

  • Must have a flexible schedule, must be able to work late evenings or weekends.
  • Ability to carry up to 50lbs.
  • Must be comfortable around all sizes of dogs and cats.
  • Must have reliable transportation/drive vehicle.
  • Must be willing to learn medical terminology and medication information for patient care.
  • Must be comfortable around medical procedures.
  • We use Avimark to schedule appointments, keep medical records, place orders. This program is incredibly complex and our reception/assistants must be fluent in the use of this program.

Experience in the veterinary field, working as receptionist, or working with animals is required. Additional education in or out of the veterinary field is an asset.

Our team is progressive and innovative, and we look forward to meeting a candidate that fits our team. Throughout the year we challenge ourselves to become more educated and to be on the cutting edge of veterinary medicine.

Please address cover letters and resumes to our clinic manager Sarah Sale. Only candidates selected for interview will be contacted. References will be requested prior to interview. Resumes and cover letters will also be accepted in person.
