The adult Medical Diagnostic Units at Hamilton Health Sciences include the MDUs at the Hamilton General Hospital,the Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre, and the McMaster University Medical Centre. These are all administered in the Diagnostic Services program with a unified management structure. Specially trained physicians, technicians and technologists provide a range of both In-Patient and Out-Patient diagnostic testing that focuses on Cardiac, Pulmonary, and Neurological issues.
The Respiratory Therapist will work in a fast paced interdisciplinary pulmonary and exercise lab. Specific responsibilities
include spirometry, lung volumes, lung diffusion, blood gas analysis, capillary puncture, methacholine challenge, and
cardiopulmonary exercise stress testing. This role is in the Regional Rehab Centre.
Schedule Work Hours
Monday to Friday; days
1. Graduate of an accredited program in Respiratory Therapy
2. Current General Registration, in good standing with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario (CRTO)
3. Valid Basic Life Support Certification
4. Experience in an out-patient clinic or environment an asset
5. Demonstrated expertise with pulmonary function testing equipment
6. Demonstrated ability to work within an interdisciplinary team
7. Demonstrated patient teaching skills
8. Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal skills
9. Demonstrated ability to set and adjust priorities and organize work in response to department needs
10. Ability to liaise with various hospital departments effectively and collaboratively
