The Faculty of Arts offers rich academic experiences in the social sciences, humanities, and fine arts; engages in teaching, research, and creative activities that enhance our understanding of the world; and develops the skills and qualities essential to imagining and realizing our personal and collective potential.
In order to support the Faculty of Arts in the pursuit of its goals, the Faculty is seeking an Associate Director to join our major gifts focused advancement team.
Participation in strategy development and execution for faculty fundraising; works with the Dean of Arts, the Assistant Dean, Advancement (AD-A), and faculty-based leaders to develop appropriate fundraising priorities for the faculty
Maintaining a major donor/prospect portfolio; personally visits major gift prospects/donors annually
Scheduling and planning travel as necessary to facilitate personal visits with top prospects
Works with AD-A to match donor interest with institutional and faculty priorities, develops funding proposals, and negotiates and structures complex gifts to the university
Prepares effective cultivation, solicitation and stewardship plans for current and prospective donors, sometimes involving other colleagues within the Office of Advancement
Contribution to the engagement between donors and faculty academic leaders
Participation in coaching and leadership as necessary to engage faculty members' in strategic fundraising activities, including appropriate preparation and follow-up
Collaboration with other faculty-based fundraisers, faculty-based academic leaders and senior university representatives for skills development, information sharing and the implementation of joint opportunities and common challenges.
Possess an undergraduate degree from a recognized post-secondary institution
Five years' experience in major or planned gift fundraising with a track record of closing gifts of $50,000 and greater, preferably in higher education
Possession of a CFRE certification is considered an asset
Have a proven ability to work autonomously and to handle multiple accounts simultaneously
Have demonstrated ability to be a contributing member of a multi-disciplinary team(s)
Have strong skills in identifying new prospects and a proven ability to develop strategies for major gift cultivation, solicitation and stewardship
Embrace accountability for performance within an assigned portfolio
Possess strong communication and organizational skills
Have a passion for students, research, teaching, the Arts, and post-secondary education
Have the ability to meet deadlines and juggle competing priorities in a high-paced environment
Have the ability to travel
In accordance with Schedule G (Temporary Librarian, Administrative and Professional Staff) of the Academic Agreement, this position has an annual salary range of $74,723 to $124,718. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
