Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and reliable (FRENCH, MATH, SCIENCE AND ENGLISH) tutor to join our team. The tutor will be responsible for guiding students to improve their academic performance through extended lessons, creative teaching, and interactive materials. The ideal candidate has experience working with children and young adults, and can provide the extra care and attention needed for specific subjects and test preparation. The tutor will work one-on-one or with a small group of students and document their progress to discuss with parents, guardians, and teachers. We are looking for tutors in the GTA.

Job Type / Category

- Utilize materials pertaining to subject matter
- Set lesson goals and milestones
- Collaborate with parents and teachers to evaluate student needs
- Prepare for lessons by gathering materials or setting up equipment
- Create lessons to reiterate what student learned in school
- Plan creative learning activities
- Adjust lessons to advance skills beyond classroom level
- Provide encouragement and positive motivation
- Pay extra attention to problems and subjects student struggles with
- Review student’s’ daily work and homework
- Assist student in completing work
- Prepare materials specific to upcoming tests
- Review test material and quiz student
- Document progress to discuss with parents and educators

- Able to work after school hours, nights, and weekends

Requirements, Education, Skills and Qualifications

Required Education, Skills and Qualifications

- High school diploma or equivalent; teaching certificate, or two (2) years or more of full-time
college coursework equivalent or bachelor’s degree a plus
- Knowledge of school curriculum for student grade level
- Must be able to pass background check
- Proven experience working with children or older students

- Able to serve as a positive role model and mentor
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Understanding of subject matter relevant to students’ need
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and
Excel) and tutoring programs
- Strong organizational skills
- Efficient time management
- Able to take on many tasks at once and prioritize them by importance and relevance
- Creative and able to foster a fun learning environment

Job Type: Part-time

Salary: $15.00 to $25.00 /hour
