GIAG is looking for an energetic and dynamic individual to fill a Part-time leading to Full-time Maternity Leave position as Registered Early Childhood Educator Assistant in the before and after school - TLC Program (The Learning Centre) at the Iroquois Public School.
May-June 2020 Shifts are Mon-Fri 2pm-6pm (20hrs per week)
July-Aug 2020 Shifts are Mon-Fri 6hrs per day (30hrs per week)
Sept 2020-May 2021 Shifts are Mon-Fri 2pm-6pm (20hrs per week)
Valid CPR and Standard First Aid Course Level C
Current health assessment, including TB test and up-to-date record of immunizations
Current Vulnerable Police Record Check
Early Childhood Education diploma or equivalent is preferred but not mandatory
Oral and written fluency in English
Strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills
Experience working with young children in a group environment
Knowledge of community resources
Demonstrated flexibility and ability to work effectively in a team
Basic computer skills. (Excel, Word Perfect, Word)
DECISION MAKING/COMPLEX ANALYSIS
Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational and leadership skills
Be sensitive when communicating with parents/caregivers
Use proper judgement when making decisions (referring to GIAG Policies and Procedures and/or TLC Operating Manual)
Work independently but also work as part of a team
Problem solving skills are required
Will be in contact with other TLC staff, parents, children, caregivers and community partners.
Will answer phone calls, and emails from parents/ caregivers, community partners, and public
Coordinates with Site Supervisor for collection of parent fees.
Registration and Parent Fees to be given to Site Supervisor.
Petty cash reports and receipts to be submitted to Program Supervisor
No financial decisions are made
Supervise children in program.
May supervise High school Co-op placements, summer students, or volunteers
Works indoors and outdoors
Work in school settings
Fans or air conditioners will be supplied as necessary for summer programs
Uses cleaning solutions to wash toys and resources.
Salary: $14.00 to $18.00 /hour
