This position is responsible to assist in the development, leadership and management of the operational functions and performance of Texada Quarry. The MIT position is meant to be a developmental role that works with his/her General Manager and function support Managers to optimize production performance and communication across all functional groups to meet all necessary Safety & Environmental policies/regulations. The primary focus of this role is assisting in the optimization of available reserves and leveraging operational excellence to achieve the highest productivity at the lowest cost of production. This position will assist in assuring that Lafarge is viewed as a valued member of the industry and local communities in which it operates.

Safety Culture:
Promote Lafarge safety culture through engagement with co-workers and hourly employees.
Administer and promote safety policies and processes to ensure site meets or exceeds all Lafarge and Regulatory guidelines.

Human Resources:
Assist in the administration and management of local collective and hourly working agreements with site employees.
Assist in the individual development, motivation and training of all production & maintenance personnel to promote customer focus, operational efficiency and skill development.

Production Management:
Help develop, implement and track production, maintenance and shipping processes strategies to achieve targeted Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
Employ daily communication process with Local Production, Quality and Maintenance departments to drive group efficiencies, manage inventories and production performance.

Financial Management:
Assist in the planning, execution and tracking of financial performance with local/regional tools.
Help develop, implement and manage monthly operations plan and inventory forecast to identify cost reduction/working capital improvements.

Customer Focus:
Assist with inventory reconciliation while balancing inventory levels in order to meet local demand.
Assist production & maintenance staff to optimize production, load out efficiencies and product quality.

Land Management:
Help ensure that site meets or exceeds all Lafarge and Regulatory guidelines.
Assist site management in the development, implementation and management of a sustainable mining plan with detailed stripping, production phasing and rehabilitation forecasts to ensure reserve optimization, while managing community impact.

Environmental Management:
Help ensure that site meets or exceeds all Lafarge and Regulatory guidelines.
Work with Central Environmental Department to develop, implement and manage operational standards to manage activities and mitigate our environmental impact.

Relationships with Others Functions:
Reports directly to the General Manager
Works closely with functional Managers, Maintenance Supervisors, Shift Supervisors, Drill & Blast Supervisor, QC Supervisor, and Warehouse Supervisors.

Key Responsibilities:
Safety: Near miss process, MVA’s, FA’s, MI’s, LTI’s,
Assist with Production: Manufacturing KPI’s, maintenance co-ordination, contractor management, daily production meetings, monthly operations plan
Financial: Assist with labour/production/maintenance budget

Assists in the oversight of 2 aggregate plants with up to 6 million tonnes of production.

Grade 12 diploma
University or college degree preferred in Business, Engineering, etc.

Experience and Skill Set:
Minimum 2-5 years production and supervisory experience
Computer knowledge in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, & Project
Knowledge of Mines Act
Recognized safety training
Experience in administration of Collective Agreements
Good leadership and motivational skills.
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Good understanding of aggregate plants and mobile equipment.
Must have above average computer literacy.
Ability to manage multiple projects.
Must have valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
