Reporting to the Human Resources Manager the Human Resources Coordinator will be a key support role to ensure that a consistently high standard of human resources administration is maintained for the organization, while contributing and supporting the development of goals, objectives, and systems for the HR department. While acting as the first point of contact for all HR relates inquiries, they will administer and maintain policies and procedures for the organization in order to improve operational efficiencies, while assisting in the support of recruitment and selection, training/onboarding, database management, labour relations, health and safety, and employee engagement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directly responsible for all recruitment and selection activities including: online job posting, applicant resume review, initial phone screen, and in-person interviewing for all general labour positions.
Acts as a direct liaison with all temporary staffing agencies to supplement direct labour pool.
Conducts all new employee orientation and onboarding activities including first day HR and health and safety orientation, plant tour, first day welcome, follow-up and 90 day performance review process.
Responsible for all activities associated with hourly attendance tracking in EZ Labour including the issuance of disciplinary intervention as per our attendance management program.
Maintains all employee records including employee files as well as the company HRIS system.
Administers the company’s group benefits program and pension plan including enrollments, updates and terminations.
Coordinates day-to-day health and safety initiatives including: daily safety message, weekly safety audits, monthly safety training, and safety scorecard maintenance as required.
Participates as a Management Member on the plant Joint Health and Safety Committee and complete associated tasks as required.
Champions all employee engagement related activities including: employee special recognition award program, years of service awards, “High Five” program, and holiday functions.
Support the labour relations process including but not limited to grievance tracking, investigations, attending grievance meetings, preparation settlement agreements, maintaining the seniority list and managing year end layoff as well as call-back process.
Provide support with all internal and external HR related inquires or requests on a day-to-day basis.
Any other duties as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
A University or College degree/diploma in a related field.
1-3 years of related work experience is required.
CHRP certification or working toward considered an asset.
Experience in a unionized manufacturing facility considered an asset.
Above average skills with Microsoft tools such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Ability to communicate to coworkers and employees.
