Under the guidance of the Manager of Finance, the Accounting Coordinator, Accounts Receivable Coordinator and Rent Supplements, performs a variety of accounts receivable functions and administration of the rent supplement program to support responsible management of the Society’s financial assets.

Position’s Primary Objectives:

Participates as a key member of the Finance team responsible for receivables and other finance duties including:

  • Preparing Accounts Receivable for the day to day operations;
  • Providing administrative support to various finance functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performs day-to-day accounts receivable transaction processing including:
  • receiving and verifying rental payments and other receivables;
  • clarifies and resolves discrepancies with accounts;
  • recording all changes to tenant rent contributions;
  • notifying tenants regarding outstanding accounts, preparing information on late rental payments and reporting monthly to Property Services;
  • charging back tenants for the cost of any repairs processing security deposits and maintaining an up- to- date reconciliation of security deposits including the most current interest rate calculations as determined by the Residential Tenancy Branch under the Residential Tenancy Act;
  • recording/entering all relevant data in the financial system;
  • preparing bank deposits;
  • maintaining accurate files and documentation in accordance with financial policies and accepted accounting practices; and
  • billing contractors for services provided such as VIHA.
  • Performs other related duties including:
  • assisting with month-end processes;
  • providing assistance with year-end audit preparation including year-end journal entries;
  • assist with reconciling day-to-day bank transactions and month-end statements; and
  • providing coverage for – Accounts Payable Coordinator.

Qualifications (minimum Education and Experience requirements):


  • Formal post-secondary training in accounting


  • 3-5 years related accounting experience (accounts receivable)
  • Experience with and knowledge of related software programs preferable (i.e. Microsoft Office particularly Excel, Yardi)
  • Property management related experience would be considered an asset

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Proficient in computerized accounting systems and the principles and practices of accounting
  • Knowledge of and practice in general accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy

Note: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Additional Criteria For Role:

  • Completion of a Criminal Record Check through the Ministry of Justice is required
