Position: Marketing and Communications Manager
Reports to: General Manager
Working with the senior management team the Manager directs the overall delivery of the Marketing programs at Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada. This includes developing and executing the overall strategic marketing and communications plan for branded and tactical campaigns and all required collateral materials and programs to help Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada continue to be a top attraction in Toronto. Additionally, the Manager will be responsible for leading the social media strategy.
Brand management – ensure brand consistency and brand voice on all marketing collateral
Manage the day to day marketing programs (media buying and planning) including radio, magazine, newspaper, online and OOH advertising
Continually generate new social media strategies to increase engagement, awareness and overall ticket sales
Ensure our social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Trip Advisor, etc.) are relevant and timely keeping Ripley’s Aquarium top of mind
Ensure the website is always up to date with news, events, promotions and programs
Coordinate and analyze Facebook and Twitter Ads using Ads Manager
Lead the marketing team. Delegate responsibilities and assignments as necessary
Assist in copywriting and creating graphics (website, signs, brochures, other materials)
Assist in developing presentations
Manage ticket promotions and event marketing
Optimization of e-commerce website ensuring a positive guest experience
Build strong relationships and manage external agencies, suppliers and vendor relationships ensuring projects are delivered on-time and on-budget
Work collaboratively across departments providing marketing and communications leadership and support for all aspects of the business
Manage corporate social responsibility initiatives and charitable partnerships
Manage B2B partnerships and cross promotions
Coordinate monthly newsletter verbiage and e-blasts
Build relationships with key media outlets and continuously communicate newsworthy updates on programs, events, and initiatives
Coordinate and supervise filming and photography requests as directed (sometimes outside of business hours)
Research work including:
Content for RAC web site and other social media outlets
Identifying and applying for industry awards for entire company
Industry best practices
Assist in creating and preparing media kit material
Meet with management to develop daily calendar and to sync upcoming plans
Assist in creating communication guidelines for different internal programs
Travel may be required (tradeshows, conferences, etc.)
Other duties as assigned

3-5 years in a similar position preferably in the entertainment, hospitality or tourism
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Experience developing and monitoring budgets and P&L statements
Takes initiative, highly driven and team oriented
College/University degree preferably in Marketing or Communications
Exceptional research and organizational skills
Proven talent in creatively developing marketing materials and programs.
Graphic design experience (Photoshop, InDesign, Publisher, etc.) is required.
Experience using Cision, Tweetdeck, Facebook and Twitter Ads Manager is preferred.
Interest in marine life and environmental stewardship a plus.
