CEMENT SENIOR TECHNICAL SPECIALIST I – CALGARY (CAT)

The Cement Senior Technical Specialist I will provide solutions to customers based on research, design optimization, and experience using an excellent knowledge of current trends and products in the cementing industry.

Responsibilities:
Ensure that Trican’s core value, “We won’t put anyone in harm’s way” is the priority in all activities
Write job procedures, cost estimates and programs for operations staff to follow when performing jobs in the field
Collaborate with operations staff, either on-site or remotely, to ensure job procedure is clearly understood and accomplished in a safe and efficient manner
Follow-up after jobs to review and assess the success level of treatments
Assist in the development of new technologies as directed by senior staff
Initiate formal presentations to convey technical advances as required to both internal staff and clients
Strive to ensure continuous improvement in designs and technology
Develop and track Key Performance Indicators for customers
Promote and enhance the technical reputation of Trican
Develop and maintain a co-operative working relationship with laboratory staff
Operate the cement fluid dynamics model
Participate in the bid process for cementing services
Lead projects of moderate scope involving both junior and senior staff
Participate in training activities with particular regards to operations staff
Project management in the development of new technologies and products as directed by senior staff
Technical advisor on-site as required for complex jobs to ensure work is carried out to the highest standards
Collaborate with the coil tubing department to write abandonments when necessary
Other duties as required and assigned by technical team lead or technical manager

Experience & Skills:
Post-secondary Degree or Diploma in in petroleum or related technical fields or equivalent field experience
Minimum five years’ experience in technical service or a related field
Eligible for registration with APEGA or ASET preferred
Experience in oil and gas is preferred
Excellent interpersonal skills conveyed in a pleasant and professional manner when interacting with employees, management and customers
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Skilled in problem-solving techniques

Working Conditions:
Regular office hours, Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
24-hour on call rotation for a week-long shift as per group schedule
Willingness to travel
