The Kootenay Brain Injury Association is seeking an Outreach Worker for the Grand Forks area. This is a contract basis at 6 hours a week under the supervision of the Executive Director to provide a high-quality service to our clients and family members living with the effects of an acquired brain injury to support independent living in their community and home. This position will start on immediately November 2019.
Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- To provide direct support to individuals living with the effects of an acquired brain injury (ABI)
- Facilitate group meetings with a life skills approach and encourage socialization
- Participate fully in team meetings and staff development
- Working home office with computer and knowledge of excel for monthly reports and timesheets.
- Must have reliable transportation and valid driver’s license with clean abstract
- Must complete a CRC, Level 1 Frist Aid and CPR and Food safe
- Clean Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Record Check
Qualifications:
Minimum training requirements are a Human Service Worker Diploma or equivalent. Experience working with individuals with an acquired brain injury (ABI) and/or training in neurobehavioral strategies would be an asset. Sensitivity to issues around removing handicapping conditions, cultural diversity and cognitive and behavioral challenges of individuals with BI will be required for the position.
