General Duty Medical Officer positions come with all the advantages of working in the Federal Public Service, including pension, health care benefits and dental care benefits. Normal working hours between 0700 and 1600 hrs Monday to Friday, with no shift-work. Depending on the location of the position, due to operational needs, there may be a need for occasional overtime and on-call.

Graduation with a Medical Doctorate degree from a recognized school of medicine
Depending on the position being staffed, any of the qualifications below may be deemed as an essential “must have” or an asset qualification “nice to have”:
Clinical experience working in a health care environment as a family physician

CAF Dive Medicine Qualification
Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).

Clinical experience in the examination and management of complex cases.
Experience in providing health care advice.
Experience in occupational medicine and disability medicine
Experience working in an inter-disciplinary environment.
Experience working in a CF Health Services Clinic or similar environment.
Experience in providing in-service training to staff on current health issues
Experience in mentoring allied health care professionals
Experience working in a medical centre focused on mental health care.

Conditions of employment
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Full license to practice family medicine in a Canadian province or territory.
Basic Life Support certification (BLS).
Candidates must meet and maintain the above condition of employment throughout their employment.
