Position Summary: Reporting to the Business Development Manager, this position is responsible for the timely and efficient coordination, preparation, and completion of proposal and tender materials to support business development. A meticulous, detail-oriented and self-motivated collaborator with proven communication and organizational skills, the Estimator requires the ability to work independently and multi-task efficiently in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.

This position is based in our New Glasgow, Nova Scotia Office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation and submission of highly accurate, comprehensive, professional quality proposals and tenders for multiple provinces, states and multiple markets;
  • Obtaining quotes from third parties as needed to support bid costing
  • Reviewing work scopes and bid scopes with operational/technical team members to come up with budgetary requirements and costing for proposals; preparing final costing and suggested pricing based on available market intelligence
  • Daily monitoring, reviewing and tracking of new online project opportunities within bids & tenders systems for multiple provinces and states
  • Daily tracking/reporting of progress on bids and tenders, deliverables and deadlines
  • Register for new bid systems/databases as required to access new bid opportunities
  • Coordination of material, information, and teams for proposal and tender production and delivery processes to ensure deadline compliance;
  • Maintain internal databases of results for current and completed project bids for use in project pursuits and marketing;
  • Maintain central folders of standardized & repetitive-need proposal content; write and revise content as needed (ie: database of project references, brochures, certificates, and more)
  • Editing for content and grammar as needed;
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders including industry partners, clients, consultants, subcontractors, public, and project teams;

Experience & Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years’ experience writing proposals preferably in the electrical, construction, architectural, engineering, industrial industries
  • Proven strong attention to detail;
  • Proven experience in prioritizing, multi-tasking, and meeting deadlines in fast-paced environments;
  • Excellent communication skills (oral, written, presentations), including the ability to successfully translate technical information to non-technical individuals;
  • Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality;
  • Demonstrates initiative, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn and adapt to change;
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency
  • Experience with SalesForce as a CRM is considered a strong asset
