Position Summary

We are seeking a Junior Litigation Legal Assistant / Law Clerk to assist two partners in their busy litigation practice. The successful candidate shall assist the partners in preparing litigation briefs, memorandums, court documents, maintaining a file from beginning to end, and scheduling court dates and client appointments. Willing to train the right candidate and will accept applications from new grads.

Job Description

  • Prepare, serve and file pleadings, motion/application records and perfect appeals
  • Prepare and update briefs and other court documents, correspondence and administrative materials for lawyer review
  • Drafting correspondence, memoranda, pleadings and Affidavits of Documents
  • Compile affidavit of documents, arrange discoveries and serve notices of examination
  • Schedule court appearances and motions
  • Keep cases organized by establishing and maintaining files. Schedule, monitor and maintain calendars and meeting deadlines.
  • Professionally interact with all firm members and clients
  • Organize and accurately maintain correspondence, invoices and receipts
  • Update and prepare litigation file listing
  • Provide administrative support which includes (but not limited to) photocopying, scanning, faxing, filing and other duties as needed


  • Law firm exposure required
  • Hands-on experience working with court and ministry forms within the litigation practice areas
  • Sound understanding of Rules of Civil Procedure and Small Claims Court Rules
  • In-depth knowledge of business and legal terminology
  • Excellent technical proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, Calendar)
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to produce a high quality and quantity of work
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner and provide exceptional client service
  • Possesses excellent problem-solving skills
  • Experience with PCLaw or billing is an asset
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Excellent organizational and proof-reading skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities with ease
  • WPM of at least 60

Salary: $30,000.00 to $40,000.00 /year
