Sasso Pizza Market and Bar is currently looking for a rare bread called "the cook". These folks work hard in a fast and organized manor, persevering everyday to provide the top quality food in their house!
A bit about us:
Sasso pizza Market and Bar has been cooking pizzas since 2016 offering Neapolitan style Za’s in our wood burning oven (yes we actually only use wood!)
We are a scratch based restaurant located on the West Hamilton Mountain that also offers pasta, feature dishes, and bar snacks such as oysters and charcuterie.
Our restaurant is driven to offer quality and honest service, food and drink that is made either from scratch or locally sourced and cared about as much as we do our guests.
We are an independent restaurant standing in the “land of the chains” ready to offer something different and authentic to the West Mountain.

We are looking for line cooks to join our growing family that are able to prepare ingredients, execute dishes, maintain equipment and provide exceptional experience to our guests. As there are multiple stations are available, please provide us with what position you’re looking for next, or what you enjoy most!
What you need to have:
-restaurant experience; scratch kitchens preferred but a willingness to learn goes much farther!
-strong knife skills; foundations are an asset yet we use our feature menu to challenge us
-ability to multitask dish execution and prep
- ability to take on challenge and deal with stress; no reservations and doing 60+ covers
-grit for consistency; above all providing the same experience and quality is most important. Do you push yourself to provide this for your guests?
-an eye for detail
-ability to lift 50+ lbs and work on your feet for 12 hours
What you’re here to do (not limited to):
-maintain the standard of recipes, storage, plating and execution duration of dishes on scheduled station, to create a consistent experience for our guests.
-own the responsibility of taking ownership of one's work. Take pride in doing a job that you are proud of. From preparation, execution and storage of ingredients, to setting up and cleaning down, we push ourselves and other team members to accomplish a better result; to become better.
-maintain equipment by following proper procedures when using and cleaning tools and appliances
-work individually and within the team to accomplish daily, weekly, and monthly tasks
-work in a safe and healthy environment, free of danger and negative behaviour
-evolve and improve. Constantly challenge yourself and improve on skills which can be shared with others
-get involved! Love to learn by involving ideas, thoughts and goals with us so we can grow together.
On a day to day:
-open and setup lines for service
-execute dish and prep items in a timely manner
-commit to arrive 10 minutes before scheduled shift, ready in proper uniform with required tools
-execute orders with a sense of urgency and in cooperation with other kitchen staff
-ensure proper chit times
-commit to follow specific preparation, cooking and plating techniques to create consistency
-understand the importance of labeling and rotating product using first in first out (FIFO) standard and proper labeling protocol
-maintain a clean working environment including table tops and bottoms, cooking equipment, walls, sinks, floors etc.
-organize scheduled station and be "rush ready" 15 minutes before shifts
-stock inventory appropriately, maintaining proper par levels
-when closing a station, ensure it has been stocked, flipped, with large containers downsized. Fridges, cooking equipment and surrounding areas cleaned
-follow closing/opening checklists
