DISPATCHER - REPLACEMENT STEP #1
There is a position available for a Dispatcher Replacement Step #1 in the Transportation Department. Applications will be accepted up to 12:00 noon, August 28, 2019. This position is available until November 29, 2019 or until the return of the incumbent.
The successful applicant will work under the general supervision of the Transportation Supervisor. This position is responsible for coordinating and dispatching buses and drivers for regular and extra-curricular trips, assisting with the day to day operation of the Transportation Department and acting as a driver trainer and examiner.
Coordinates and dispatches buses and drivers for regular and extra-curricular trips.
Calls out casual drivers when necessary.
Acts as spare bus driver when necessary.
Prepares road maps of all bus runs and assists in the preparation of permanent student lists and school bus passes.
Keeps track of and reports casual time, absences and overtime of employee's within the Transportation Department.
Assess the skills of new drivers and provides orientation whenever necessary.
Invoices schools for field trips.
Consults with highway maintenance contractor in regards to road conditions.
Assists the Transportation Supervisor in the day to day operations of the Transportation Department.
Oversees the operations of the Transportation Department in the absence of the Transportation Supervisor.
Performs other job related duties as directed by the Transportation Supervisor.
Hours of Work: Eight (8) hours per day, five (5) days per week.
Duties to Commence: As soon as possible after closing until the return of the incumbent
Work Year Base: Twelve (12) months per year
Commencing Salary: $26.21/hr
Qualifications and Attributes
Grade 12 or equivalency
2 years experience driving a school bus
Minimum Class 2 driver's license/good driving record (with air endorsement)
Knowledge of the Motor Vehicle Code and the National Safety Code
Basic computer knowledge
Knowledge of local road system
A Criminal Records Search must be completed and results returned to the Administration Office prior to employees starting any position in the District
