Vice President, Strand Based Business

Given an upcoming retirement, a Vice President, Strand Based Business (VP, SBB) is being sought to join the Tolko family and to bring executive oversight and operational leadership to a diverse asset mix in terms of both operating capacity and product mix. The principal objective of this position is to optimize the return on investment from the now three mills in Alberta and Saskatchewan and ensure that Tolko’s value added suite of products continues to grow and be a highly productive component Tolko’s overall business.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate is a highly engaged operator with a clear and successful track record of optimizing the operational and financial capacity of a complex operation. With a strategic perspective and a track record of driving innovation, this individual brings strong financial acumen and a deep comfort in being hands-on as required. What is key is that they can accelerate the pace of improvement in any given facility, while adhering to the high standards of employee care that characterizes the organization. Building upon in-house expertise and capacity will also be key.

The ideal candidate will have prior experience managing multiple plants, in a 7/24 manufacturing environment, ideally within the forestry sector.

As a member of a tight knit and experienced leadership team, ‘fit’ with the Tolko team and culture will be absolutely essential. Accountability, clear communication and a strong understanding of the complexities of the business will be hallmarks of success, as will be the ability to forge strong productive relationships with the other business leaders.

The next Vice President, Strand Based Business will ideally be based in beautiful Vernon, British Columbia. Residence in other centres in Western Canada may be considered. Regardless, travel will be a part of the role.
