Reporting to the Programmer, Volunteer Services, Recreation Division, this position is responsible for the coordination of volunteers for various recreation centres and events. Appointed staff member at centres responsible for volunteers.
Recruit, orient, train, and schedule volunteers
Schedule volunteers to assist running events and activities
Assist in facilitating and staff training and staff training in Volunteer Management
Communicate with participants in regard to part-time opportunities
Provide a high level of front line customer service
Complete administrative duties in a timely manner (e.g. reports)
Maintain an understanding of Recreation programs and services
Maintain contact with volunteers by visiting volunteers on-site
Understand, adhere to, and enforce Corporate Policies & Procedures, Confidentiality Guidelines, Emergency Procedures and Health and Safety Standards for all participants and staff
Attend meetings/training as required
Ensure volunteers are registered through Better Impact
Develop strong relationship with staff responsible for volunteers in Recreation Centres
Provide guidance to staff on disciplinary action with volunteers and step in to help develop corrective measures when needed
Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum 18 years or age
Completed of high-school (grade 12) or equivalent
Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience
Proficient in use of computers and various software programs
Excellent communication skills both written and oral
Current Standard First Aid / CPR C / AED from an accredited organization
Submit or agree to a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check
Exceptional customer service and communication skills
