The Hamilton Health Sciences Centre for Paramedic Education & Research (CPER) provides medical oversight, education, and quality improvement to over 1200 paramedics in 9 ambulance services. The CPER region has a population of nearly 2 million persons, with over 200,000 EMS calls in 2015. CPER and collaborators have been conducting key prehospital research for over a decade and have implemented many of the 2013 Canadian EMS Research Agenda recommendations.
The CPER research team has also been directly involved with and published research on cardiac resuscitation (some of the largest RCTs ever completed), trauma resuscitation, termination of resuscitation rules, disaster planning and readiness, ACS recognition, STEMI systems of care, acute stroke, alternative pain management, anaphylaxis, paramedic-hospital communication, paramedic-physician patching, simulation education, and ambulance transport alternatives to 911 calls.
An experienced Research Supervisor is required to manage the study, along with day to day operations of clinical trial(s).
The Research Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring that all aspects/compliance of the study protocols are carried
out in an efficient, accurate and timely manner. These responsibilities include managing all study aspects, including
providing education, and acting as a liaison for local investigator and hospital departments. Supervises and trains the
local research team including research assistants and research nurses. Also responsible for local patient screening,
randomization, study drug administration, patient follow-up, REB compliance/submissions, adverse event reporting, as
well as accurate case report form completion on all patients.

1. Academic degree in Sciences, Clinical Research Associate/Research Associate Program Designation
2. Minimum 5 years previous experience in thrombosis/clinical trials
3. Experience with the management of large clinical trial data sets
4. Demonstrated ability to work independently, excellent communication (both oral and written) and problem solving skills,
and ability to work flexible hours
5. Proficiency in MS Access, Word, Powerpoint, Framemaker and Datafax
