The successful candidate will be a transformational leader with outstanding interpersonal skills. The Department of Dental and Maxillofacial Sciences has 10 full time active staff members, all with faculty appointment at the University of Toronto and five part time staff members. The Department provides comprehensive maxillofacial and dental services to hospital inpatients and a large medically compromised outpatient population, who require hospital-based expertise for the delivery of safe care. Areas of clinical strength include oral and maxillofacial surgery, oral and maxillofacial medicine and pathology, maxillofacial prosthetics and dental care for medically complex patients, including outpatient deep sedation/anesthesia for patients with special needs and geriatric dental care.

Candidates must hold a DDS/DMD degree and either hold or be eligible for a general or specialist’s certificate of registration with the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario. The successful candidate will be eligible to hold an academic appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor, or its equivalent in the Teaching Stream, in the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto. The successful candidate will have the vision to advance integration with the Sunnybrook strategic directions; commitment to forging partnerships with the many communities we serve to support the development of integrated delivery systems; experience working in diverse populations; values inclusiveness, equity and diversity; strong leadership capabilities, the ability to mentor trainees and faculty at all stages of their careers; as well as a record of peer-reviewed research, of leadership in undergraduate, postgraduate, continuing medical education or patient education; and/or leadership in model service delivery as a creative professional academic activity.
