This position will report to the EVP, Conservation, and is a 1 year contract with the possibility for extension.
Develops Ocean Wise Plastics Pollution strategy and leads its execution, including the monitoring of Ocean Wise’s impact.
Oversees the development and implementation of strategies to support the development and launch of the new program;
Monitors and reports on the ecological impact and performance of direct-action programming and make changes as required;
Ensures the strategies and tactics connect with the overall mission of the organization and its strategic needs
Works with the Development team to prepare proposals to fund the plastics program work
Aligns the plastics pollution agenda with Ocean Wise’s Conservation Strategy, and informs the conservation communications strategy accordingly.
Oversees the execution of the Plastics Wise 2.0 project.
Develops and directs the implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures and work standards where applicable for the program
Designs programs and develops subject matter resources
Effectively communicates and liaises with external stakeholders
Promotes strong customer service and collaboration
Gathers data and reports on results
Monitors the program budget and provides regular status updates to superiors, noting any variances. Overseeing financial well-being of the program by analyzing cost effectiveness and exercising cost controls;
Manages the recruitment and work plan execution of an Accounts Specialist
Positions Ocean Wise as an impactful national and global player on the mitigation of plastic pollution to the oceans.
Monitors the local and international markets and conservation arena for trends, and overall actions of competitors;
As required, and in conjunction with OW Research Institute, acts as the representative for Ocean Wise, locally, nationally, and internationally and represents the organization at speaking engagements in order to enhance the understanding of Ocean Wise’s mission, vision and goals.
Acts as the radar on plastic pollution matters for Ocean Wise, identifies opportunities for influence and partnerships, and represents Ocean Wise in relevant fora.
Ensures the mainstreaming of the plastics agenda across relevant Ocean Wise programs and the aquarium.
Works collaboratively with other key stakeholders throughout the organization in order to merge programming and implement collaborative direct action.

Education and Experience
Degree in business, communications, environmental sciences or related field is preferred;
3-5 years of work experience in conservation or environmental sustainability is preferred, with a demonstrated track record in management. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
