Transportation Manager

Parian Logistics is a Canadian warehousing and distribution provider specializing in the distribution of garments for Canadian clothing retailers. We provide third party logistics and e-commerce fulfillment for our clients; Warehouse One, Ricki's, Bootlegger, and cleo. Parian Logistics operates a 235, 000 square foot facility in Winnipeg that will service over 400 retail stores across Canada.

We are looking for a Transportation Manager to join our team! Reporting to the General Manager, the Transportation Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of transportation for Parian Logistics’ clients. The Transportation Manager shall also create and maintain all associated documentation in adherence to legislation and organizational policies and procedures.

More specifically our Transportation Manager will:

  • Engage with clients to understand their needs and provide an efficient and cost effective transportation network
  • Manage inbound and outbound freight shipped to and from the company; working with customs officials to ensure compliance
  • Manage courier/carrier implementations and establish service level agreements to ensure services are delivered as promised
  • Negotiate with and manage contracts and service level agreements for third party suppliers and/or service providers at a competitive price with established standards of service
  • Develop and direct logistic processes and establish ongoing improvement plans for freight management, vendor routing, and carrier management
  • Develop, implement, and monitor performance metrics for transportation, shipping and receiving
  • Develop and direct logistic processes and establish ongoing improvement plans
  • Create, monitor, and report on regular logistics key performance indicators
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients and external business partners
  • Support, engage, and collaborate with transportation coordinators within the organizations serviced
  • Develop processes to provide visibility of the supply chain to clients, ensuring that clients are able to track shipments and delivery dates
  • Ensure that stakeholders in the companies serviced are informed in a timely manner of all significant and/or potential problems with product deliveries
  • Ensure contingency policies, systems and practices are in place to prevent and eliminate business disruption
  • Champion efficiency ideas, cost reduction measures and assists with implementation of changes within areas of responsibility
  • Ensure that the service levels agreed to with clients are met and business efficiency opportunities are reviewed, revised and implemented regularly

Parian Logistics is looking for an individual to fill this role who has the following education, skills and experience;

  • University degree in Business, Logistics or related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5+ years of direct work experience in a senior logistics and/or transport function, or supply chain management role
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills
  • Demonstrated analytical thinking and problem solving ability
  • Focused on positive customer experiences
  • Direct work experience of operations, warehouse management, inventory control and transportation management (preferably in retail)
  • Supply Chain Management Designation (SCMP) preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (preferably APTOS)
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Strong industry connections with logistics/distribution industry providers, contractors, etc.
