General Duties and Responsibilities:
Design next level and future state of monitoring to support business critical services
Develop standards and SOPs for Monitoring
Take remedial action with existing standards and designs
Participate in project meetings and create monitoring designs as necessary
Develop roadmaps for enterprise Event Management technologies
Define monitoring strategies and policies for corporate IT infrastructure (hardware and applications, datacenters, offices , retail store environment and mission critical applications, including but not limited to:-
Server hardware (IBM, HP and Dell)
Virtualization (LPAR, VMware and MS Hyper-V)
Operating systems and clusters (AIX, Linux and Windows)
Databases (Oracle, MS SQL, Exadata and Teradata)
Network and wireless
Web services
Business programs and applications (SAP, ESB, Loyalty and Pharmacy)
Store endpoints (Back office, Lanes and Scales)
Based on industry Best Practice and Loblaw Infrastructure Platform Standard, develop and maintain Monitoring Standard and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) documents for various monitoring solutions and tools, including but not limited to:-
Microsoft SCOM 2012
IBM Systems Director
Dell OpenManage
Entuity Network Monitoring
Exploit existing technology standards where possible and identify the need for new ones where necessary.
Along with other Infrastructure Design Leads, work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders, internal IT teams and vendors, and assist in investigation of new technologies and identify opportunities where these technologies can enhance LCL's capabilities in a cost-effective manner.
Develop robust and comprehensive monitoring solutions for business services, mission critical applications and emerging technologies.
As a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Event Management, participate Intake process in a variety of project activities, including: analyzing and validating monitoring requirements, providing recommendations and developing monitoring solutions and designs.
Provide accurate monitoring design specifications for implementation.
Lead in Proof of Concept, Pilot and Standardization phases.
As the technical lead, conduct technical reviews and develop integrated solution model for complex projects and solutions.

Job Qualifications & skills required

University Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
8+ years of expert knowledge and working experience with Enterprise System Management, Event Management solutions, Monitoring and Alerting tools, for example, BMC BPPM/TrueSight, IBM ITCAM/APM, Microsoft SCOM, AppDynamics, Splunk, etc.
5+ years of working experience in developing high level and detail design documentation specific to Monitoring and Alerting solutions.
Working experience with designing monitoring solutions, deploying Tivoli monitoring suite of products such as IBM Tivoli Monitoring (ITM 6.3.x), ITCAM for applications (WebSphere App Servers, Datapower, WebLogic, MQ, Message brokers, etc), ITCAM for transactions, ITCAM for SOA / J2EE, ITCAM for DB2 / Oracle.
Experience with Scripting using Shell and Perl for reporting and custom monitoring.
Strong working knowledge and experience with Platform, Database, Storage, Backup, Network, Data Centre and Virtualization.
Working experience with enterprise job scheduling tools is a plus, i.e. CA Autosys, or IBM Tivoli Workload Scheduler.
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple complex initiatives.
Must be able to work effectively in a fast paced environment where priorities can continually change while timelines remain static.
Applicant should be able to interact by participating in group discussions, be open to suggestions and contribute when called upon.
Ability to work with external vendors, and peers to formulate designs based on best practices and knowledge of Loblaw standards and emerging technologies.
The ability to apply critical thinking to abstract issues and priorities tasks based on timelines.
Able to work with minimum supervision, taking ownership for the successful completion of work assignments.
Demonstrated ability with requirement analysis and problem solving techniques..
ITIL Foundation required and Practitioner level preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate technical standards clearly and concisely.
IT knowledge in a retail environment would be a definite asset.
Knowledge of project management preferred.
