Go-Go is hiring a Personal Support Worker for one of our Fredericton Area After School Programs.
The Personal Support Worker will play an essential role in an individual child's learning and growth, including physical and social development in a safe and child centered environment. The Personal Support Worker will build a relationship with the child and their family to better understand their specific needs in order to plan effective strategies.
Must have skills and qualities:
Must be well organized and be able to follow a schedule.
Possess a keen sense of responsibility with ability to admit and fix mistakes.
Good communication skills - ability to listen carefully speak clearly and remain calm with parents, staff and children.
Patience and an excellent sense of humor are key.
Ease and ability to work with children 5 to 12-year-old on your own and within a team setting.
Share our philosophy of treating children with respect and dignity: Always taking the time to carefully listen to them.
Experience and other must haves:
Experience with managing challenging behavior and setting boundaries.
Must be able to work independently and be self-motivated.
Reliable transportation to and from work (including during storms)
First Aid training (or willingness to take the course)
Must be available to work from 1:30PM-5:30PM on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and from 11:30AM-5:30PM on Wednesdays for the remainder of this school year. Must also be available to work 9:00am-5:30PM Monday through Friday during the summer months.
