Position Overview

INOVA Systems Corporation is seeking two (2) experienced Hardware Developers for an intermediate full-time position in our Calgary, AB office.

Managed by the Hardware Engineering Manager, as part of the INOVA Engineering team, the Hardware Developer will be supporting existing seismic acquisition products that are in volume production, with the opportunity to join the design and analysis of electronic circuitry, the selection and testing of hardware components, create test plans, conduct tests, and write test reports.

The role is best suited for a mid-career level candidate with a background in electrical engineering, ideally having experience designing high speed digital circuitry, analog instrumentation and power circuits. Experience with IPC standards and have a contract manufacturing background is considered a strong asset.Some international travel may be required, therefore the successful candidate must have a valid passport with no travel restrictions.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide support to manufacturing team on existing products.
  • Introduce of new products to t manufacturing.
  • Assist with the creation of specifications for electronic assemblies at INOVA’s Contract Manufacturer.
  • Gather manufacturing requirements from INOVA manufacturing group.
  • Determine root cause failure analysis of electronic and mechanical assemblies.
  • Develop test plans for product qualification and design assurance.
  • Work in accordance with all legislation and company policy requirements pertaining to employee safety, health and wellness

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience designing high speed digital circuitry, analog instrumentation, and power circuits
  • Must be able and willing to travel internationally as work requires
  • Work well unassisted reporting status and findings regularly to the team or HW Engineering Manager.
  • Experience with test equipment and instrumentation used in electronics validation
  • Experience programming Microcontrollers, (C/C+, Assembler) with well-structured and documented code from concept to market

Beneficial Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of experience designing high speed digital circuitry, analog instrumentation, and power circuits
  • Experience with IPC standards and a contract manufacturing background
  • PCB design experience,using the Altium electronics CAD package and creating specifications for Printed Circuit Board (PCB) fabrication


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering with a focus on Electrical Engineering
