The Senior Accountant is a financial leader, and as such has direct responsibility for the financial systems and controls, record keeping, compliance and general fiscal integrity of the company.

Primary Responsibilities:
Ensure that accurate, valid and timely financial and administrative information is delivered to organization.
Coordinate the preparation of financial statements, financial reports, budgeting, special analyses and information reports including intercompany reconciliations.
Prepare and submit quarterly GST/HST filing with CRA
Establish and maintain appropriate internal control safeguards.
Interact with Operational staff to provide consultative support through financial and management information analyses, reports and recommendations.
Become subject matter expert (SME) with Advantage Software system. Be able to onboard new staff in all aspects of the system.
Analyze cash flow, cost controls, and expenses to report to Senior Management. Analyze financial statements to pinpoint potential weak areas.
Accounts Payable data entry and manage communications back to vendors regarding payment timelines.
Prepare timely and accurate client invoices for revenue generation. Work closely with client managers to ensure billable time is invoiced, while limiting time write-offs.
Cash Flow monitoring with continuous updates based on AP vendor requirements and AR collections forecasts.
Prepare working papers for annual audit review; and support VP Finance throughout the audit period.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems. Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.
Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects. Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings.
Must be self-motivated and able to work independently. The position requires the individual to be able to manage their time against deadlines.
This is normally acquired through a combination of the completion of a Degree in Finance or Accounting along with three to five years of post-designation experience in a mid-level finance or accounting position. The ideal candidate will have recently completed the CPA program.

Working Conditions:
Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
