Reporting to the Director, Generation and Compression, the position is accountable for all sustaining, non-routine and capital projects, for both FortisBC and 3rd Party Generation projects. This position will work directly with the Generation Regional Manager and Chief Engineer to ensure safety, compliance and the coordinated delivery of all projects within Operations
Develops and implements annual operational and project plans for all sustaining, non routine and capital Generation projects; accountable to execute quality, cost and schedule; influences third parties on Company strategic perspective that finds balance for resourcing and outsourcing needs.
Demonstrated knowledge of Prime Contractor responsibilities to support project management for 3rd Party customers, where we are contractoraly designated as the Prime Contractor.
Influence business sponsors/stakeholders , plans, budgets and schedules high profile projects that require the approval of stakeholders. Managers complex costing; assesses and manages operational and project risk, making recommendations to mitigate risk through contingency planning and cost control.
Collaborate and maintain effective working relationships within Generation and with key strategic stakeholders, organizational leaders and staff at all levels; create partnerships, develop and strengthen relationships with others to promote the exchange of information and ideas.
Develop and manage contracts to support the execution of projects with contractors, consultants, etc.
Establish a working knowledge of 3rd Party service contracts, transfer pricing policy and Generation financial model to support the budgeting and reporting of projects.
Develops & executes annual objectives, deliverables and annual major project plans; Set priorities for operational delivery and stability including third party relationship issues. Sets goals and objectives and determines priorities for construction managers.
Manages and provides leadership direction to team of project and construction managers, both internal and contractors as required. Mentors, coaches and develops talent required to support PMO and associated portfolios management. Leads and controls project teams to provide advice, analysis and support to the business. Ensures a culture of safety and ensuring safety standards and protocols are a priority of managers.
Education and Experience:
Bachelors degree in a related discipline, plus a minimum of 10 years related experience including leadership in all phases of strategic and project development and planning or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Certified Project Management Professional.
Demonstrated knowledge in all aspects of the Utility business.
Extensive knowledge with Project management principles and methodology
Proven leadership experience within a union environment
Relationship management and interpersonal skills; strong leadership, strategic thinking, problem solving and innovation abilities to develop effective strategies and ensure support and attainment of goals.
