The Special Events & Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for assisting the CFS Director with all aspects of special events and volunteer management at Moncton CFS. This role coordinates outreach programs and supports volunteers for the programs and ministry of Moncton CFS under the direction of the Unit’s Director. The incumbent would provide support in the facilitation and delivery of various Moncton CFS programs, presentations, and networking opportunities, as directed by the CFS Director and representing The Salvation Army and its programs and services, when required.
The incumbent is responsible for the following range of job duties characteristic, or typical of the job class:
Manages community volunteers and service groups which include their recruitment, hiring, orientation, and scheduling.
Monitor and report on the performance of all volunteers.
Annual Christmas Kettle Campaign:
Maintains a year-round focus, promoting awareness and building partnerships for the kettle campaign in consultation with the Director.
Work with the Director to secure strategic kettle locations throughout the community and liaise with locations before, during, and in appreciation after the campaign.
Manage the kettle schedule as approved by the Director according to the process used by Moncton CFS to ensure maximum coverage of all kettle shifts and locations by organizing shifts with volunteers, service groups, and approved kettle workers.
Coordinates the drop off and pick-ups of kettles/stands/supplies as well as the counting team and deposits of money daily.
Works with Director to plan the Campaign Kick-Off event.
Special Events Coordination:
Coordinates outreach and support for the programs and ministry of Moncton CFS under the direction of the Unit’s Director.
Assist Director in coordinating donation drives, special projects, and fundraisers for programs when required.
Assist with catering arrangements, event/facility booking, set up and clean up.
Work cooperatively with other non-profits to strengthen partnerships.
All other duties as required.
Maintaining the volunteer database as well as any required paperwork in keeping with Salvation Army policies and procedures.
Collects data and reports on statistics pulled from TSA programs.
Maintain a working list of contacts, connections and partnerships made that support the unit
Assists the Director and other staff with Health and Safety requirements for the facility and its programs.
Responsible for various correspondences, newsletters, and administrative duties including occasional back up to reception.
Assist with the unit’s website and social media.
Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL ATTAINED:
Completion of any formal post-secondary education.
MINIMUM PRIOR RELATED EXPERIENCE / REQUIREMENTS:
The incumbent must have the following experience before hire:
2 years but less than 3 years of related experience
Valid New Brunswick driver’s license with clear driving record
Clear criminal record check
Strong organization, communication and planning skills.
Strong initiative and detail oriented.
Ability to multi task, work under pressure in a fast-paced environment with good time management skills.
Strong computer skills including proficiency with MS Office.
Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to work independently with confidence and integrity.
Ability to work cohesively as part of a team.
Sound understanding of The Salvation Army, its mission and its principles and a willingness to adhere to them.
PHYSICAL EFFORT/DEXTERITY REQUIRED:
Computer use, sitting at a work station, Christmas Kettle collection/pickup, paperwork, filing, meetings.
Some (minimal) driving will be required.
Increased work schedule when campaigns are active.
Will be required to lift up to 20lbs on occasion.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week – Monday through Friday
8:30am to 4:30pm – ½ hour unpaid lunch
